About Love, Charlie
Story & Mission
Love, Charlie was founded in 2023 in honor of Charlie Covina. Charlie was loved and supported by so many, but ultimately lost his battle with mental health and passed at the age of 20. We created this nonprofit organization to not only honor Charlie, but to provide free, preventative mental health resources and education for young adults.
Love, Charlie currently provides information around mental health education. We aim to grow this to provide additional resources geared towards physical health, nutrition, career advancement, along with a community forum to allow individuals to interact together. We want to give your mental health the best resources for any aspect of life.
Thanks to your support, we were able to donate $10,000 in Charlie’s name to the Jed Foundation.
Our Team
Will Doerr
Will Doerr is a co-founder to both Always Check on the Homies and Love, Charlie. Will spends most of his focus on Love, Charlie’s content development and building out the resources for the website.
Outside of Love, Charlie, Will spends a majority of his time planning events for ACOTH and going to concerts. He lives in San Diego, California.
Davis Smith
Davis Smith is a co-founder of both Love, Charlie and Always Check on the Homies. As our operations lead, he ensures Love, Charlie stays up and running. Davis is also ingrained in the holistic and coaching side of the mental health industry providing the team with a unique perspective on what it means to get help.
Outside of Love, Charlie, Davis spends a lot of his time golfing and enjoying the outdoors. He has recently moved to Bend, Oregon.
Claire Covina
Claire Covina is Charlie’s older sister and one of the co-founders of Love, Charlie. Claire had active involvement with Always Check on the Homies’ “i love u more” project which raised $10,000 in honor of Charlie. Claire has built a special relationship with many professionals in the mental health space and focuses her time pulling in new people to help contribute to the resources.
Outside of Love, Charlie, Claire dedicates a lot of her free time to hanging out with her friends and enjoying the city of San Francisco.
